Tour GAR0408 Sat, Apr 8th: Newark/Lisbon - Depart Newark Airport on your overnight flight to Lisbon. Sun, Apr 9th: Lisbon/Nazare - Upon arrival we are transferred to Nazare. Before check in at our hotel, we visit the Church of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré and the small chapel. After our visit we go to the lower city. On hot days the ancient local fishing art is brought to life, with the skipper calling the men down to the sea. The men run down to the beach and help push the "candil" - a small fishing boat - down to the sea. In the past this was a daily scene on Nazaré beach. Nowadays the fishermen still mend their nets on the beach. The remainder of the day is free. (B,D) Mon, April 10th: Nazare/Fatima - Upon arrival in Fatima, we visit the Chapel of Apparitions, the Chapel of Adoration and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary where we see the Tombs of Blessed Jacinta and Francisco. This afternoon we go to ALJUSTREL where we visit the homes of the children and perhaps meet some of the relatives. Next to VALINHOS where Our Lady appeared to the children in August 1917 and where the Angel appeared to the children in 1916. (B,D) Tue, Apr 11th: Fatima/Salamanca - Morning departure to Salamanca. (B,L,D) Sat, April 15th: Garabandal/Oviedo Holy Saturday - The relic which is held in the Camara Santa in the Cathedral of Oviedo is a piece of cloth measuring approximately 84 x 53 cm. There is no image on this cloth. To the naked eye only stains are visible but more is visible under a microscope. The remarkable thing about this cloth is that both tradition and scientific studies claim that the cloth was used to cover and clean the face of Jesus after the crucifixion. We have free time to walk around this beautiful city and do some shopping before we return to Garabandal for dinner. (B,D) Sun, April 16th: Garabandal/ Easter Sunday - Today we join the townspeople to celebrate the holiest day of the year. We start our day by singing the Rosary as the dawn of the new day appears.
